The Weight of a Glass of Water

A professor held up a glass of water and asked, "How heavy is this glass of water?"

A professor standing at the front of a classroom, holding up a glass of water while explaining a concept to attentive students. The students, sitting at desks, are looking curious and engaged as they listen to the professor. The classroom is bright and modern, with bookshelves, a whiteboard, and large windows letting in natural light. The glass of water is clearly visible in the professor's hand as they gesture to illustrate the point. The atmosphere is thoughtful and academic.

Students gave answers ranging from a few ounces to a couple of pounds.

The professor said, "The actual weight doesn’t matter. What matters is how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, my arm will start to ache. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight is the same, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."

Moral: Stress and worries are like this glass of water. The longer we hold on to them, the heavier they become.
